Dr. Russell Chan is the Co-founder and CEO of E-SENSE Innovation & Technology. He obtained his B.Eng. in biomedical engineering and Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering from HKU. He was a postdoc at Stanford and NYU. Previously CTO of a Forbes Asia 100 to Watch startup, he was named REVIVE CTO of the Year and received the prestigious HKEST award in 2023.

Under his leadership, E-SENSE has received the Tech Impact Company of the Year (2025) and the Gold Medal with Jury Congratulations at the 2025 Geneva Inventions Exhibition. He was named Hong Kong Tech Fest Awards Founder of the Year in 2026. Dr. Chan is an elected Junior Fellow of ISMRM and an elected Young Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE). He is the ex-co member and the R&D focus group lead of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) Biomedical Division, and is also the Chair of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Young Member Section. His focus is on the research, development, application, and commercialization of state-of-the-art multi-modal and multi-scale biomedical imaging devices to improve quality of life.
