Roeland Mingels is the Head of R&D at FLOWBIO, a London based wearable company that develops sensors for real-time sweat monitoring in endurance sports. He obtained his PhD in Bioelecttronics and Biosensors at the University of Southampton working on implantable medical devices. His work spans across disciplines including fundamental science (electrochemistry, microfluidics), healthcare (diagnostics, fertility), environmental, veterinary, and sports science (sweat sensors).  At FLOWBIO he has been leading the activities on the sensor development and the back-end algorithms. He has initiated several collaborations and studies with leaders in the field of sport-physiology, taking sweat sensing from the lab to the field. The FLOWBIO Sensor provides reliable, actionable, and data driven information on the individual’s hydration needs.
