Dr. Emily Chan specializes in research and development of advanced manufacturing of optical devices and magnetic modules. She has over 25 years of experience in sensor development on photonic and precision engineering devices, including optical chip manufacturing, electronic and photonic packaging, performance and reliability optimization, lean manufacturing, and plant planning. She joined AP Infosense in 2016 and currently serves as Vice President, focusing on the research and manufacturing of high-precision measurement optical modules in the industrial and biotechnology fields. The company was recently recognized as one of the top ten optoelectronic solutions companies in the Asia-Pacific region with products recognized by Silver Medals at the 2022 Geneva International Invention Awards and the 2024 Health Partner Award.
Dr. Chan served as the principal investigator for several Innovation and Technology Fund projects from 2009 to 2023 and successfully developed patented technologies in the fields of biotechnology, electronics and integrated circuits, mechanical systems and manufacturing technology, nanotechnology and materials science, which have been applied to industrial products. From 2017 to 2023, Dr. Chan was appointed as member of the Innovation and Technology Fund (Nanotechnology and Materials Technology Group) Research Project Review Committee, member of the HKSAR Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) ORC Advisory Committee, member of the Knowledge Transfer Office (PCF) Review Committee and the Knowledge Transfer Foundation (BGF) Review Committee of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) Awards and Medals Selection Committee. She holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering and a Juris Doctor degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the Optical Society of America (OPTICA, formerly OSA).
