Emily Chan is a business and technology executive who specializes in advanced manufacturing of optical and magnetic modules in both High-Mix Low-Volume and High-Volume productions. She has over twenty years of experiences in sensors development on photonic and precision engineering devices including wafer fabrication, electronic and photonic packaging, performance and reliability optimization, LEAN manufacturing and facility planning.
Dr. Chan joined AP Infosense in 2016 and is currently the Vice President focusing on research engineering and optical module manufacturing used in high-precision measurement in industrial and biotechnology fields. The company was recently named Top 10 Photonics Solution Companies in APAC with its innovative ideas and sustainable products. It also received Silver awards 2022 INVENTIONS GENEVA and Health Partnership Awards 2024.
Dr. Chan was the Person-In-Charge (PIC) in multiple Innovative and Technology Fund projects from 2009 to 2023 and successfully developed patentable technologies in the areas of Biotechnology, Electronics and Integrated Circuits, Mechanical Systems and Manufacturing Technology, Nanotechnology and Materials Science as well as Environmental Protection ready to be launched for industrial products.
From 2017 to 2023, Dr. Chan was appointed the panel member of Innovation and Technology Fund Research Projects Assessment Panel in the Nanotechnology and Materials Technology subgroup, the advisory committee of Operations Review Committee (ORC) of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC, HKSAR), the HKUST Proof-of-Concept Fund (PCF) Vetting Committee and Bridge Gap Fund (BGF) Review Committee of Technology Transfer Center in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Member of Award and Medal Selection Committee, The Optical Society of America (OSA).
Dr Chan has completed the Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She holds MPhil and PhD degrees in Electronic Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as a Juris Doctor degree from Law Faculty. She is now a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Optica (previously Optical Society of America, OSA).
