Danyang “Dan” Fan, PhD, is the founder and CEO of DizzyEX, a medical device startup improving the diagnosis of episodic vertigo. An NSF Graduate Research Fellow, he earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, where his research focused on wearable sensing and human-centered interactive systems. He has developed systems for Microsoft Research, Meta, General Motors, Honeywell, and LIGO. After personally experiencing vertigo, Dan saw firsthand how difficult attacks can be to diagnose when they occur outside the clinic and founded DizzyEX to address the problem. Coming from a family of physicians, he was drawn to the opportunity to apply his engineering experience to a consequential clinical need and improve the standard of care.
