Momentum

Open Wearables is an open-source platform that lets health and wellness companies collect, normalise and use wearable data on their own infrastructure. It is built and maintained by Momentum, a healthcare software company from Wrocław, Poland, that designs and builds digital health products for clinics, health platforms and wellness brands across Europe, the United States and the Middle East.

Most digital health teams that want to use data from smartwatches, rings and fitness trackers face the same choice. They can spend months building and maintaining separate integrations for each device maker, or they can send their users' health data through a third-party aggregator that charges per user and keeps the data on its own servers. For companies working under HIPAA, GDPR or national data localisation rules, the second option often is not available at all.

Open Wearables removes that choice. Companies deploy it on their own cloud or on-premise servers, connect sources such as Apple Health, Garmin, Oura, Whoop, Polar and Samsung Health, and receive the data through one unified API and data model. Sleep, activity, workouts and continuous metrics such as heart rate arrive in a consistent format regardless of the device. Mobile SDKs for iOS, Android, Flutter and React Native handle background sync from phone-based health stores, and an MCP server lets teams query the data with AI assistants. Because the platform is MIT licensed and self-hosted, the health data never leaves the customer's environment and there is no vendor lock-in.

The platform is already in production at companies around the world, in digital health products, health data platforms and remote patient monitoring.

On top of the open-source core, Momentum offers custom health scores developed with its science team, along with deployment support and product development for companies that want to build wearable-powered features faster. At MEDICA 2026 the team will demonstrate a live Open Wearables deployment, show how wearable data from different devices lands in one data model, and talk with health companies, clinical providers and device makers about building remote monitoring, prevention and coaching products on data they fully control.
